Create a tax invoice

A tax invoice is the legal document that records a sale. It is what your client uses to claim input VAT on their end, and it is what drives your income figures, VAT return, and analytics in Amaniq.

Steps

  1. Go to Income → Invoices → New Invoice.
  2. Set the document type to Invoice.
  3. Fill in:
    • Client — select from your saved customers or enter a new one. For clients who are VAT-registered, enter their TIN so it appears on the invoice.
    • Invoice date and due date.
    • Currency — TZS for local clients; USD or EUR for international clients.
    • Line items — description, quantity, unit price. Add as many lines as needed.
    • Tax type — Standard (18% VAT), Zero-Rated, Exempt, or Not Registered.
  4. Review the totals (net, VAT, gross).
  5. Click Save as Draft to keep editing, or Send to lock the invoice number and make it official.

Sending the invoice

Clicking Send locks the invoice number. After this:

  • The number cannot change or be reassigned
  • You can download the PDF and send it to the client manually
  • Or enter the client's email and click Send by email to deliver it directly from Amaniq

Invoice numbering

Invoice numbers are assigned automatically in sequence: INV-2026-001, INV-2026-002, and so on. Amaniq ensures there are no gaps or duplicates.

If you have existing invoices from before Amaniq that you are migrating in, you can set a starting number in Settings → Invoice Settings so the sequence continues from where you left off.

Branch invoices

If your company has multiple branches, you can assign an invoice to a specific branch. The invoice PDF will show the branch's logo and contact details in the header, while the legal footer (TIN, VRN) shows the parent company's information — which is the correct legal structure in Tanzania.

Branches are set up in Settings → Company → Branches.
